Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, has been ordered to pay an ex NFL cheerleader for the Atlanta Falcons, Shayla Stevens $6.4 million, after she bludgeoned her with a rum bottle in an Atlanta nightclub during Halloween in 2007. The incident left the victim's face scarred permanently. Da Brat served a 3 year prison sentence for the crime, and in addition to that she got 7 years probation and 200 hours of community service.The jury awarded the former cheerleader the amount to cover her injuries and past/future loss of earning, after finding her responsible for permanent facial scarring, neurological impairment, and severe mental pain.
This is not the first of Da Brat's brush with the law. In 2000 she beat a woman with a gun over VIP seating in a Georgia nightclub, sending her to get six stitches from the hospital. Though she was not tried for this, she agreed to perform 80 hours of community service, serve a year's probation and pay a $1000 fine after a guilty plea to misdemeanor reckless conduct.
